Australian Made. Naturally Beautiful.

About Us

At Pastel Pines International, we’ve been crafting premium home fragrance and aromatherapy products for over 30 years and we’re just getting started!

Based in the Hawkesbury region of NSW, we’re proudly Australian-owned and woman-led, with a team that’s passionate about quality, creativity, and building lasting relationships.

Our story began in the early '90s with a small Sydney sales agency and a big vision. Over the years, we’ve grown from Pot Pourri and Fragrant Oils to a full-scale manufacturing operation, expanding into candles, diffusers, essential oils, and natural décor like seashells and driftwood. Today, under second-generation owner Sam Maitland, we’re focused on innovation, sustainability, and supporting our wholesale partners with standout products and service.

We know what matters to retailers, products that look great, feel considered, and actually sell. That’s why we design with merchandising in mind, offer cohesive collections, and keep our packaging fresh and retail-ready.

Our team is hands-on, responsive, and always open to collaboration. We offer flexible ordering, reliable lead times, and real support. From our flagship brands to custom development, we’re here to help you grow with products your customers will love.

We’d love to hear about your business and how we can help it grow.

Our History

From humble beginnings to industry leadership, Pastel Pines has grown through vision, innovation, and a deep love for home fragrance. Here’s how we got here:

1990 — A Fragrant Beginning

Our founder, Joan Sterelny expands her Sydney sales agency by partnering with Pastel Pines, entering the gift and homewares market.

1992–1994 — Foundations & Expansion

Joan and her husband Peter begin manufacturing from their Castle Hill home, later acquiring 50% of Pastel Pines and expanding operations to a Kurrajong farm to meet growing demand.

1999 — Scaling Up

The business moves to South Windsor and acquires Australia’s largest botanical importer.

2002–2004 — Investing in Innovation

Pastel Pines secures land and builds a high-capacity factory at 30 Walker Street. Essential Oils and Reed Diffusers join the product line.

2006 — Full Ownership

Joan and Peter acquire 100% of Pastel Pines, setting the stage for continued innovation.

2014 — Leadership Evolution

Sam Maitland is appointed General Manager after 14 years of mentorship, bringing fresh energy to the brand.

2016 — Expanding Our Craft

Candle manufacturing is introduced, expanding our Australian-made fragrance offering.

2019 — A New Chapter

Sam Maitland acquires Pastel Pines and Fractured Flowers, including the Seashell, Driftwood, and Botanicals brands.

2026 and Beyond — Future-Focused

With a refreshed vision, we’re embracing innovation, expanding services, and leading with purpose.
